Four years with Md. Wing prepares teen for Texas A&M Corps of Cadets

July 29, 2010

MARYLAND When Kathleen Crockett reports for her first day at the Texas A&M ROTC Corps of Cadets, she will already be accustomed to the demanding Air Force lifestyle. As a cadet, the Walkersville High School graduate will be an airman in training all day, every day, whereas most ROTC programs require members' time only two or three days a week -- "it's basically like a military academy," she said. After participating in the Air Force's Civil Air Patrol program for the past four years, Crockett already knows what it's like to always be on call. Crockett is a CAP cadet captain in Maryland Wing’s Frederick Composite Squadron, an experience she says will give her a headstart at A&M.
